About the Hans Frei as a renaissance lute

The description refers to a standard version of the instrument. At your request other kinds of wood can be used. I also offer this lute as a student lute.

 

Back: 11 ribs of cypress with black fillets

Neck: Spruce veneered with ebony

Pegbox: Maple veneered with ebony

Soundboard: Spruce

String length: 62,5 / 61.5 cm

Frets: 8 tied gut frets / 4 wooden frets

Pegs: Fruitwood

Bridge: Fruitwood coloured black

Fingerboard: Ebony

Courses: 6 or 7

 

The original is number C34 in the Vienna Kunsthistorisches Museum. The body is made of flamed maple, neck, fingerboard and pegbox are veneered with walnut. (The neck is possibly complete walnut.)
